The highest number of overtakes occurred in Abu Dhabi

In the recently completed season, a total of 742 overtakes were recorded, taking into account position changes at the end of each lap, which is 46 fewer than in 2024.

The negative statistics do not end there. The average number of overtakes per race dropped to 30.9, the lowest figure in the 12 years since the introduction of hybrid turbo power units. Overall, most of the measures introduced in recent years to increase overtaking have failed to deliver the desired effect. The increasing size of the cars and the dirty air they generate have significantly contributed to this decline.

Abu Dhabi recorded the highest number of overtakes, with 60 moves, just one more than at the season-opening race in Bahrain. The fewest overtakes were seen in Monaco, where only four passes were recorded, with even DRS proving ineffective.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix ranked 16th out of 24 races in this statistic. Only Jeddah and Singapore, among street circuits, surpassed the Baku City Circuit, which recorded 25 overtakes and outperformed Miami, Las Vegas, Qatar, and Monaco. Notably, Baku recorded the same number of passes as the famous Spa circuit, known for encouraging overtaking.
